It is with deep sadness that we announce that Barbara Walton, our friend, colleague, and General Manager, has passed away after a three-month battle with cancer.
Barbara was well-liked by both customers and staff, who appreciated her fairness, good humour, and willingness to always go the extra mile.
Barbara joined Clynder Cables in 2015 as Sales Administrator and during her nine years with the company, was promoted to Commercial Manager and then to General Manager. She helped to modernise many aspects of the business and brought with her considerable experience from her fourteen years at Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions (formerly Wormald International).
During her time with the company, she trained up three apprentices, who have all gone on to successful careers. For Barbara this was a way of ‘giving back’ after having received the benefits of a similar traineeship when she was younger.
Service to country always had great importance to Barbara, and in her spare time she supported the TA Centre and did volunteer work for the Poppy Appeal.
Barbara enjoyed travel to Tunisia and Morocco. She was also fond of animals and often ‘dog sat’ as well as keeping chickens in her back garden.
Barbara leaves behind husband Roy and a wide extended family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
